Chris and I are proud to announce the first release of our wine label, De Su Propia Cosecha- “of one’s own harvest”. The wines we have created reflect the unique perspective that we have on agriculture and the craft of making admirable wines. Our tiny wine project has been an exciting journey spanning many years. Chris and I have always had a common interest in wine, starting with our first dates visiting tasting rooms. Now Chris has 10 harvests under his belt, and he has planted and manages a vineyard in the Santa Rita Hills. I have immersed myself in retail wine sales for the last 8 years. All of these experiences have helped us develop our enthusiasm for producing great wine.
Our approach to winemaking is simple: great wine, like great food, is almost entirely dependent on good ingredients. We tend our vines the same way we do our garden, all the work is done by hand in a sustainable manner. Our wines are made with the same approach we would prepare a meal. Great ingredients picked at their peak of ripeness need only the most basic preparation to showcase their quality. In the cellar we barrel ferment all of our wines in small batches to retain the subtle differences found in the vineyard. Our blends are carefully crafted taking inspiration from the wines of the Rhone Valley in France. Our extended barrel aging ensures the wines are well developed before they are hand bottled and hand labeled. We have enjoyed crafting this wine from start to finish; we invite you to share our experience. Christopher and Deanna King |
